This new headquarters of a company specializing in the research and manufacture of non-destructive electromagnetic testing technology instruments is located in the industrial park of the Michelet innovation space in Quebec City.
The lot chosen has an irregular geometry and the natural constraints present on the site made the implementation of the project complex. All site data were considered in the design of the building.
The “T” shape of the new headquarters was generated by the thoughtful distribution of the three blocks housing the essential functions. The entire building's spaces have access to natural light and a biophilic approach has been studied to contribute to the feeling of well-being, both inside and outside.
The south orientation of the building allows the use of a double-skin strategy as a sunscreen element. This helps to reduce the overheating of indoor spaces in summer and allows the penetration of the sun in public spaces in the winter. The use a wood structure for the central atrium sequestered about 400 tons of carbon.
The 5100 m² building aims for the LEED v4 certification with a high-quality architecture and based on the highest environmental standards.
