Tasked with renovating the interiors and visual identity of this boutique hotel, designers envisioned an inviting yet unexpected environment for locals and visitors to gather.
Design decisions were guided by five brand pillars defined early in the conceptual phase – the design was to be INVITING, the people were to be INTUITIVE, the hospitality was to feel GROUNDED, the art was to be ECLECTIC, and the programming was to feel SERENDIPITOUS.
Taking up residence in a brutalist structure, this “communal living room” first and hotel second makes a point of welcoming the neighborhood into its whimsically provocative environment. Designers embraced the architecture, creating thoughtful juxtapositions using bohemian luxe-inspired components and turning material tension into a beautifully balanced design equation.
Art installations throughout the hotel encourage exploration and interaction. Furniture and materiality selections – from 70’s-inspired wing chairs and luxurious, silk-fringed pill-shaped stools in the public spaces to mosaic ombre tiling, brass detailing, and inviting mohair lounge chairs in the guestrooms – make this hotel an adventure in design and comfort for all who wonder
