The 11,700 sqm, 280-key Hyatt Place London City East, features an all-day dining and lounge space, as well as a ninth-floor bar and terrace with views of the City and Canary Wharf. The lobby and restaurant area are located on the lower ground floor alongside an orangery, courtyard, gym, and a grab-and-go food market. The guestrooms themselves include a variety of standard and accessible rooms, spread across 10 floors.

The site, located on Whitechapel High Street in East London, was previously home to a seven-storey office building built in the early 1980s. The existing building was stripped back to its concrete structure and re-clad. An additional three storeys were added in a lightweight steel frame structure.

The project is exemplary for its adaptive reuse of the existing structure, carrying a strong sustainable message, as well as creating a smart and practical Hyatt Place hotel within the old shell.
