Located in a jungle haven overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the ‘Raintree House’ in Nosara, Costa Rica, delivers a stunning 750m2 residence through a combination locally inspired contemporary design and international innovations in healthy bioclimatic architecture.

Inspired by a more sustainable way of modern living and the wellbeing benefited through connections with nature, every single existing tree on the original site was preserved on construction. Open floorplans and large glass windows unite the completed home with the surrounding verdant canopy, with the precise use of natural interior materials, including burnt wood, hand-made hydraulic tiles and woven lamps, reinforcing the structure as an organic extension of the local rainforest.

Dually modified Kebony wood cladding was selected as the sustainably sourced exterior cladding solution to deal with the vagaries of the rainforest climate, delivering the aesthetic and structural benefits of hardwood timber products, while upholding the eco-conscious ethos of the unique jungle sanctuary.

A perfect blend of design, durability, and sustainability, Raintree House serves as a residential haven at harmony with its jungle home.
