The Pasadena-based hotel was established in 1926 during the city’s renaissance, later bought by local businesswoman Constance G.L. Perry, and became a popular tourist destination for wealthy visitors seeking to escape cold winters. The arts scene flourished during this Golden Age, inspiring the redesign of the hotel's interior with vintage artwork and California Mission Style furnishings. The hotel’s exterior features stucco-clad walls with Spanish colonial details carried over inside. The lobby has been transformed into a modern and comfortable space with moody chocolate-brown walls, warm finishes, and patterned terracotta tiles. The bar features wire, brushed oak wood, and marble with comfortable seating which allows groups of people to sit and socialize while the back bar feels very simple with its traditional styling. The courtyard space has been revitalized with lush greenery and a grand glazed urn fountain. The design team incorporated touches of lush greenery accompanied by light blues and pinks to create a relaxed atmosphere. The original tile and flagstone floor nod to the hotel's rich past.
