Alchemy Origin tells the story of coffee origins. The scheme's color and form are inspired by the topography and visual vernacular of the many places where coffee is grown.
Nestled between a commercial A-grade lobby and an urban courtyard, the design utilizes carefully sculpted elements, dramatically positioned to synchronize with a challengingly shaped site. These curved elements are finished in a collection of wonderfully rich materials including terracotta tile, Venetian plaster to simulate rammed earth, carefully selected fabric, red travertine and an array of earth-red textured millwork.
Elements on the ceiling undulate through the space tying the design into the greater architectural context, whilst carefully synchronizing the landscape formed by the ceiling with furniture below, their interaction creating intimate or dramatic space below. The dramatic central wave is 18m in length and curves like a river through the space acting as an organic axis, integrated lighting helps to emphasize its form and finish.
At the end of the space, an intentionally rectilinear coffee bar contrasts with the general curves to symbolize the science behind artisanal coffee making.
