The design encompasses five waterfront service stations as part of the Xin'an River Comprehensive Protection Project, aimed at maximizing landscape resources and enhancing urban and rural environments along the river. The design philosophy emphasizes lightness, intimacy, serenity, and purity, intending for the architectural structures to be lighter and closer to the water, with facades that are purer and lighter.
To blend naturally with the surroundings, the design uses glued laminated timber with natural wood textures as the primary structural material, offering strength, stability, and design flexibility through factory prefabrication. Facade materials such as carbonized wood, rubble, and stainless steel mesh are locally sourced, ensuring integration with the environment and imparting a local character to the stations.
The completed stations feature amenities such as tea rooms and reading rooms for public convenience. Additionally, the stations include storage and service rooms, functioning as local delivery hubs and integrated platforms to facilitate the flow of industrial goods to rural areas, boosting economic development and enhancing villagers' happiness and satisfaction.
