The Comprehensive Service Pavilion is a core service building and main entrance with a key impression for the 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Exposition. The design draws inspiration from the "Han Que" (traditional Chinese ceremonial gate tower), with the shape of the Confederate rose, the city flower of Chengdu, to highlight functional features and local culture, resonating with the Expo's theme. Three twisted and tensile mega canopies with two independent pavilions as wings, create a welcoming and hospitality image. While giving it a biomimetic shape, the integrated parametric technique also addresses two systems of the hyperbolic asymmetrical structure and the rainwater reused collection. The energy-saving glass, plants, and a natural ventilation system were used and combined with different ETFE and STFE membrane materials, to improve indoor air quality. To consider the economy, practicality, energy efficiency, and sustainability, the Comprehensive Service Pavilion will continue to serve as a community center, offering leisure spaces and commercial services to citizens after the Expo. Not just as a new public space for the city, but also establishing a new landmark for Chengdu.
