In response to the growing demand for sustainable and efficient building materials, we propose the integration of Nail Laminated Timber (NLT) or Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) into the exterior wall assemblies of structures such as warehouses, industrial buildings, logistics centers, data centers, and casinos (i.e. building with relatively few windows / openings in the exterior façade). This innovative approach seeks to replace traditional precast concrete sandwich panels with a greener, lighter, and better-insulated alternative.
The conventional precast concrete sandwich panel typically consists of an outer wythe of concrete, insulation, and an inner wythe of concrete. By substituting the inner wythe with NLT or CLT, we aim to significantly enhance the environmental profile and performance of the wall assembly.
