The main store of Shinbashi Tamakiya, which has flourished with "tsukudani" as its main product, required a new sales space design 240 years after its establishment.
"Tsukudani" is a traditional Japanese preserved food.

Our proposal was to use the space three-dimensionally by placing flat fixtures in the center of the space. In this way, customers can take their time in making their selections without feeling nervous.

Also, by building a dining space inside the store, the store could introduce recipes using tsukudani and have customers actually taste them.

Paulownia wood is used as the main material for the walls, display stands, and counters. This was inspired by the traditional method of selling "tsukudani" in paulownia boxes.
In other words, the store itself is a paulownia box filled with tsukudani.

We graphically interpreted the dividers of these boxes and subtly incorporated them into the design of the walls and fixtures.

The light-colored floor tiles are GREENGUARD certified, the U.S. standard for environmentally friendly materials, and environmentally friendly store design is also emphasized.
