SILT in Middelkerke is a captivating and sincere event venue that enriches the Flemish coast. Inspired by the former island of Testerep, its design integrates dunes and tidal channels, ensuring coastal reinforcement, livability, and sustainability harmonize with the existing coastline. The hotel tower stands as a new beacon by the sea, complemented by a casino, restaurant, multifunctional event space, and underground parking garage.

Steven Delva of DELVA describes SILT as a "landscraper," merging a unique dune landscape with functional spaces, offering breathtaking views and a car-free public zone. This seamless integration fosters a sustainable connection with its environment, rewriting the historical relationship between Middelkerke and the sea.

Its striking wooden structure adds significant public space while maintaining a small footprint. It is visible along the historical coastline from Ostend to Westende, acting as a catalyst for a vibrant new centre in Middelkerke. The design prioritizes sustainability, with features for optimal energy supply, waste management, and a new seawall capable of withstanding extreme storms.
