This project aims to identify a new social and architectural typology for destigmatizing homelessness. This program is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of homeless individuals and families. This project will create a participatory environment that boosts civic vitality and community trust by combining ephemeral structures using mycelium, architecture, urban design, and policy planning. It fosters safe dialogue and engagement between neighborhood residents and homeless individuals. The prototype homeless pod is constructed of mycelium at a 1:2 scale. Hemp is used as a substrate for the mycelium. This mixture is then placed in a 5-part mold where it grows in the mold for 5 days. Afterward, it must be baked at 200 degrees Fahrenheit to finish the process.
