Melanie Tomlinson Design were contacted by a former client seeking a ‘City to Surf' move. The design brief aimed to achieve a 'coastal glamour' aesthetic, blending modernities of city life with the tranquillity of beachside living.
Capturing the client's desire to make the most of panoramic views, spatial planning was key - seamlessly blending indoor & outdoor living, reflected in large windows & sliding doors opening all living areas onto exterior spaces.
One of the main enhancements involved reconfiguring the kitchen/living/dining layout - bringing the existing kitchen from its rear location to a prominent position, integrating with the living area & providing advantageous sea views. Addition of a glass wall ensured the dining area remained cosy for casual entertaining whilst connecting to the lower living spaces.
The scheme adopted a neutral palette with soft pastels, natural textures, light woods & brushed metal hardware. The kitchen retained a nod to city life with sleek black cabinetry, contemporary door details, brass finishes & porcelain worktops.
Working with the contractor, MT Design provided joinery & lighting design, furniture & procurement, all from the UK Studio.
