Located in Quito, CORPORATIVO 194 redefines the horizontal office through asymmetrical garden terraces that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space. Horizontally and vertically arranged, these gardens integrate the building into the urban fabric, offering a distinct architectural experience. Using native plants, they serve as vertical connectors that reconnect users with their environment. LEED Platinum certified, the project merges nature and architecture while challenging conventional limits.
The Garden as Connection:
Inspired by the Japanese concept of Shakkei—"a garden must evoke the horizon"—the building integrates city and nature into a seamless whole. A sidewalk shaded by rescued ceiba trees welcomes visitors with a green threshold. Terraces throughout the floors merge with the landscape, culminating in a rooftop that offers panoramic views of the Andes and hosts a café, meeting spaces, and an auditorium.
A True Connection with Nature:
CORPORATIVO 194 transcends the closed-box typology, creating architectural gradients that blend public and private, built and natural—enriching the human experience through form, function, and landscape.
Bio MATELIER is an architecture studio founded in Quito in 2012. The studio is committed on addressing contextual connections with precision, offering users an experience that links the immediate and everyday, the local landscape and broader territory, the particular and the universal. MATELIER approaches architecture as a craft—rooted in rigorous study and building—focused on spatial experience, proportion, rhythm, atmosphere, and detail, with a clear commitment to architecture as an essential cultural practice.
