Tamrin Space was envisioned as a shared house for music and theater artists — a place to create, collaborate, and share. The selected site is an 80-year-old, 520 m² two-story house in Tehran’s Roudaki cultural zone, in poor but authentic condition.

The challenge was to transform the evolving vision into a functional design while preserving the building’s character. Plans prioritized natural light, accessibility, and multi-purpose use. The ground floor holds a café, library, restrooms, and entrance lobby; the first floor includes a practice room, offices, and services; the second floor is a residential unit.

A central skylight and full-height void bring daylight to all floors, illuminating a garden below. New plaster volumes for counters and library echo original forms, with materials used sparingly and imperfections preserved to showcase history.

Structural work included reinforcing foundations, adding shear walls, and installing drainage to prevent dampness. The result is a vibrant cultural hub that restores a historic home, positioned near Tehran’s City Theater and Roudaki Hall, and sets a model for preserving heritage buildings.
