Tucked into the landscape of Oaxaca, Mexico, Will and Kerstin Meyer’s home is a study in quiet connection between land, heritage, and design. Conceived by Will Meyer of Meyer Davis, the residence blends Oaxacan vernacular with Mexican modernism, anchored by a soaring palapa that frames panoramic ocean views. A collaboration with local builder Patricio Sodi, the project draws on shared family ties and deep respect for place. Inside, Kerstin layers the home with handcrafted works from local artisans, objects chosen through years of personal relationships and cultural exchange. Custom breeze blocks nod to regional weaving traditions, offering both texture and ventilation. Materials are kept elemental: terracotta, concrete, whitewashed surfaces, reflecting the raw beauty of the terrain. The architecture is pared back, emphasizing built-ins, clean lines, and openness. Landscape by Ramses Alexander and Edwina Von Gal further dissolves boundaries, weaving native flora into every view. The result is not just a retreat, but a reflection of Oaxaca itself, rooted, intentional, and deeply personal.
