The project site is located in the center of Nagasaki, Japan, with the stadium to the south, the sloping residential area unique to Nagasaki to the east, Mount Inasa, the symbol of the city, to the west, and Peace Park to the north along the river.
We aimed to create a new definition of design that is different from the design that is consumed by the land of Nagasaki, and to create a place to produce business and human resources from Nagasaki that will spread their wings to the world under the themes of new creativity, new hospitality, and new architecture.
Local stone, timber, architectural styles, steel plates, and primitive materials and styles were interpreted in a contemporary way and incorporated into the space. We have actively used local building materials from the past, eliminated superficial materials as much as possible, and created a space that is not only decorative in appearance, but also authentic in quality.
The details were created with the aim of eliminating the ornamental nature of appearance only, and to obtain a genuine texture.
The space emphasizes the continuity between the exterior and interior environments, which are open to the landscape.
