Singapore Island Country Club (SICC, The Bukit) represents a bold departure from traditional golf clubhouse design, which historically centres around the sport.
SICC reinterprets this convention by embracing a more inclusive model—prioritising community engagement and family-centric programs through nature. Courtyards, layered façades, and curated landscapes blur indoor-outdoor boundaries. Creating a sustainable clubhouse fostering wellness, connection and intergenerational bonding amidst the vibrant backdrop of the Lornie Nature Reserve. The landscape was a primary design factor that defined the building’s form. Beyond preserving the existing landscape, the building takes advantage of existing topography, utilising natural elevational difference between the road and the existing site to create a new datum and space underneath. To preserve ecological integrity, the design integrated both a green deck and carpark without additional excavation.
The design seeks to position one closer to nature, enhancing the experience of the spaces through the senses. It presents an interplay of new building and the existing nature, fostering wellness, reaction and sustainability.
