Companion Care Center is a dual-species animal shelter located in Canada, designed to redefine how care environments can feel. The architecture balances functionality with emotional warmth, using natural materials such as corten steel, stone, and wood to evoke a sense of safety and dignity.

The layout is divided into two wings: one for horses, one for dogs. A central sunken lobby connects them and introduces natural light into the lower level, which hosts public and educational functions: donation-based retail, classrooms, flexible workspaces, and private adoption rooms. These zones support community engagement while enabling sensitive first encounters between animals and adopters.

Each animal area is tailored to species-specific needs: dogs have direct access to outdoor yards and daylight-filled interiors; horses are provided with operable windows for visual connection and ventilation. A secure courtyard encourages interaction, observation, and quiet engagement with nature.

The project is currently in active development and will be built on the site of the existing shelter, which is being vacated for construction.
