MODUX reimagines the future of downtown Los Angeles infrastructure through regenerative subway stations, integrating transportation, ecology, and adaptive architecture. Inspired by modular systems, the proposal introduces a framework enabling the structure to grow, evolve, and adapt over time like a living organism. Embedded hydroponic towers within the hub facilitate water recycling and food production, creating a vertical disaster-resilient landmark. Modular platforms allow commercial, service, and cultural spaces to flexibly integrate and dynamically evolve according to urban needs.
Rooted in the concept of “motion”—encompassing human activity and architectural form—MODUX transforms the Little Tokyo subway station into a dynamic, flexible hub responsive to social, economic, and environmental shifts. By integrating passive and active sustainability systems, the proposal reduces resource consumption while creating new opportunities for work, leisure, and mobility. In this envisioned downtown, infrastructure ceases to be static and instead becomes vibrant: a catalyst for growth, adaptability, and urban regeneration.
