The project brief was to improve the current facilities for Sevenoaks Town Football Club and local community at Greatness Park following a few years of exceptional growth of the club to 61 teams. By redeveloping and improving the stadium, its facilities and access, the site will meet all football foundation and football association requirements and regulations which will enable Sevenoaks Town FC to progress within the football leagues as well providing additional recreational and function room facilities for community groups.
Working collaboratively with the stakeholders we produced a suitable design that would meet the regulations and requirements whilst making sure the design and massing are in keeping with its unique open landscape setting within parkland and Greenbelt. Creating a part 1 storey and part 2 storey form mimics the sculptural contours of the site, and by creating flat grass roofs, it enables the building to merge into the surrounding green context. Additional landscaping, grass wall to the clubhouse and grass roofs will provide additional habitats and increase the biodiversity of the site, whilst assisting with a sustainable drainage system.
