Kazanka Strategy aims for the transformation along 22 km of river banks and 3,000 ha of territory in Tatarstan capital. The mission of the project is to create the largest continuous ecosystem of riverside parks in the country - a future economic and educational resource for the sustainable development of Kazan. According to the strategy, 12 new parks will appear around the Kazanka River which will be visited by 5,700,000 people annually.
The Strategy has been developed for 2 years with the help of over 100 local experts, community leaders and associations. Community events, based on volunteering, are regularly organised on site to raise awareness on the importance of ecology.

The strategy was approved in August 2020 under the curatorship of Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova, Aviser to the President of Tatarstan, and the "Institute for urban development of the Republic of Tatarstan". New development along the embankment threatening a protected zone was already canceled and the transport strategy of the city was amended to better preserve local ecosystems. The first park and largest outdoor extreme park, Uram Park, was opened on a former industrial zone in 2021.
