Siete7, a newly opened seafood restaurant and bar in Yuecheng District of Shaoxing, seeks for a resolution for a co-existing F&B space that inaugurate a spatial dialogue between them.
“Concurrence” and “Synchronicity” are the two driving inspirations. By placing the bar at the centre as a principal role with the formal dining space and casual drinking space sitting on either side, it leads a transitional space where different functions co-exist with each other.
Rather than creating deep spaces, a simple yet functional kitchen is placed at the rear of the 160sqm footprint, thus freeing up the entire frontage, allowing a semi-open style restaurant and bar with a changing atmosphere according to the operational hours.
The inverted shimmering cloud above the central bar extends spatially onto both sides, with the burgundy red and beige bands of hand-made tiles that sits on a diagonally placed flanders weave pattern floor tiles, defining the inner rim of the dining and drinking spaces. These spatial orders carried a sense of flow and evolving relationship, while creating a distinctive and, slightly provocative, immersive sensory experience.
