This is a 661-square-meter residential space. Its “wrapped-around” layout displays a smooth traffic flow. The designer factors in the needs of every family member and the clients’ Japanese background and incorporates elements of luxury apartments in Roppongi, contributing to a home of traditional-style Japanese and contemporary aesthetics.
The public sphere features a "wrapped-around" layout that effortlessly links the living room, dining room, audiovisual room, and study. This particular layout connects different functional areas while maintaining subjective individuality. The wood paneling near the ceiling retains the original height of a story which allows better ventilation. The structure combines with the plan of lighting which gains a more delicate climate control to the domestic environment.
Integration of the inhabitants’ cultural identity with the physical facilities is gracefully presented. Corridors release an impression of a traditional Japanese garden; a shower formulates on the concept of a Japanese bathhouse; wooden partitions, electric shoji doors, and tatami flooring…These configurations not only reflect a Japanese lifestyle but carry cultural messages.
