Our client had four key themes that were essential to be incorporated within the restaurant interior - 4 Japanese calligraphy symbols.
SOCIAL
The arrangement of our tables embodies the Japanese philosophical concept of ‘MA’ which translates as the space between. Each table is carefully positioned to avoid, creating moments of pause and embrace the atmosphere.
NATURAL
Materials are the embodiment of our design philosophy, taking inspiration from the Japanese concept of ‘Shizen’ which is finding beauty in nature. Shizen is reflected in the fine wood implemented on our furniture and stone tiling’s enhancing the feeling of nature and peace.
AMBIENT
Following the Japanese design concept of Datsuzoku, which is freedom from habit or formula. Our lighting is designed to transform the space from an office environment during the day to an intimate social area at night, enabling our clients to escape from their daily routine and into the extraordinary.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL
A space is the opposite of an entity. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese symbol for water we wanted Jazu to be fluid, transforming from an office lounge throughout the day to a restaurant and bar in the evening.
