The house owners wished to have space good for their sons’ interactions and having their own private area when needed.
Two boy rooms are set adjacently and divided by full-height bookshelves. There are big openings in geometric shapes at the divider’s middle section forming a double-deck structure. The openings provide a "secret passage" between the rooms and a small world for the boys to interact. A full-height sliding magnetic chalkboard is on each side of the divider for them to play with and slide to control the access.
Wood, leather, metal, glass and stone are used at the living area. The colour palette contains off-white, grey, brown and dark blue, featured in long straight lines and curved corners. The overall visual effect is rich and modern.
The master bedroom is in soft tone, with the sense of romance added by the pastel tone wallpaper above the bed headboard. Its geometric pattern echoes with the shape of the openings in the boy rooms to make a meaningful connection. The spacious master bathroom there is “a surprise”, according to the house owners, which they did not think of having concurrently a big bathroom and roomy space for the boys, before the space re-planning.
