In this midtown Toronto home, the bold decision was made to expose the structural elements in order to provide unique visual interest in every room, and to honour the authentic beauty of the structure. These industrial elements were painted a soft white, and juxtaposed against refined elements such as wood wall panels with subtle reveals, custom wood ceilings, custom lighting configurations, and custom millwork to create a balance of industrial and refined. The indoor-outdoor connection was enhanced with expansive unobstructed glazing, views to other rooms that pass through outdoor spaces, a double sided indoor-outdoor fireplace, and plenty of greenery brought inside. The overall palette is neutral, nature inspired colours that are tactile, textural, calming to the senses, and provide a gallery like backdrop for the client's existing art collection. Luxury elements include a car lift, basement parking, man cave, custom wine cellar, and dedicated home theatre, all which continue the theme of balancing industrial and refined elements. The result is a space that is interesting, unique, authentic, and relaxing to be in.
