Orange Lofts is a small-scale and lively residential building, located on the main street of the Sluisbuurt. The striking building will form the entrance to this new neighbourhood. Orange Lofts is tough and urban on the outside, but soft on the inside, which is reflected in the abundance of greenery of no less than four roof gardens. The building is apparently fragmented into three parts, with different colored brickwork and windows. This fine scale emphasizes the human dimension. The brick facade, ornaments and the commercial plinths refer to the architecture of Amsterdam's city centre. The combination of wooden structure CLT (cross laminated timber) with masonry creates a friendly appearance and is rich in detail. The Sluisbuurt will be developed in the coming years into a sustainable neighborhood with more than 5500 homes and facilities. The name Orange Lofts refers to the kings locks at the other end of the main street.
The Amsterdam housing is popular, scarce and expensive. Orange Lofts focuses on those young people who would like to live in the city. The building consists 58 microlofts with a study/sleeping and living area, designed in such a way that space can be used twice.

Bio
NAT architects
NAT stands for NATURAL (sustainable). We have to take good care of our earth. The architecture we create is focused on the future, climate-neutral, flexible, circular and NATURE-inclusive. We use materials that limit CO2 and are easily recyclable and we use installations that keep energy consumption to a minimum. We also give nature a home in our projects in order to support the ecology in the built environment. We make buildings that enrich the city, the neighborhood, but above all the users. We make architecture that connects people, and produce energy!
