Chatham Apartments
The Chatham Apartments building was added to Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District as a contributing building in 2010. The vacant building was purchased in 2020 with the intent of renovating it into resident student housing. To accomplish this goal, a full interior demolition and abatement was completed, while maintaining the building’s historic profile.
Exterior improvements include exterior façade restoration, new windows, new roofing, restoration of the ground floor storefront windows, new parking, and site improvements.
The completed renovation accommodates a full-service dining hall, laundry, a conference room and residence life offices on the ground floor. The upper floors house 169 residence suites with a mix of studio, one bedroom, and two-bedroom unit types. The completed renovation provides housing for 647 students. All-new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and communication systems were provided to support the new residences.
