The weekend house is planned along Tokyo Bay's coastline, offering rich seascape views from the site. Positioned on a hill, it boasts a clear view of Mount Fuji on sunny days, while on the opposite side, lush mountains rise, their dense foliage almost embracing the property. Recognizing the allure of the sea and the mountains, a space that naturally draws the gaze outward in every direction is designed.
The building, a compact two-story structure with a minimal footprint, features a tranquil bedroom space on the first floor and a living area on the second floor that connects with the sea and mountains. The roof is segmented into four parts, each extending in different directions, with openings defined between the eaves on the gable side and the second floor. This layout allows views from the one-room living space to permeate in all directions. The exposed upper framework contrasts with the conventionally finished lower structure, emphasizing the roof's dynamics. This design creates a space that combines a sense of enclosure with openness.
Focusing on minimal elements and the special roof design, the residence provides a soothing environment that harmonizes with its scenic setting.
