McDonald's has just opened a new unit in São Paulo, in the Paraíso district. Located in one of the busiest areas of the city, the restaurant marks a major step in the evolution of sustainable practices already adopted by the global restaurant chain, through what they call the Recipe for the Future. In addition to maintaining the measures that McDonald's has adopted over the years, the new "Méqui" moves even further towards sustainability, creating a restaurant that exceeds all expectations. Its architecture was by an architectural firm that constantly reinforces its commitment to environmental protection and innovation.

The choice for this project was to use engineered wood, from the ceiling to the floor, which significantly reduced the carbon footprint, since wood absorbs carbon dioxide instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. Since a significant portion of the wood is concealed by coverings, an opening was incorporated into the design for the walls to convey to visitors that the internal structure is made of wood. Furthermore, this project is based on the prefabrication technique, with a portion of the construction taking place inside an industrial warehouse.
