Cookouts, campfires and long summer days are the spark behind this dining experience. At the base of Willis Tower, this restaurant features an open-fire grill with an elevated American menu. The interior design sculpts the space into moments alternating between dimension and intimacy. Pathways meander through the tables and up the stairs, which frame a statement art piece: a child’s silhouette blowing dandelion seeds. Lush plant life fill in the space while dandelion pendants create bursts of light and motion in the space overhead. The ground floor consists of semicircular banquettes and rows of tables that peek through the foliage in intimate seating arrangements, while the upper-level has a field day with open seating, game tables and a terrace. Branding was inspired by the original identity present at the completion of the Sears Tower, lending a throwback feel to the touchpoints. Bold, avant-garde signs and sidewalk-inspired floor art are drawn from Chicago’s parks. This space stands for what the Willis Tower represents today. The old and new come together to highlight the building’s architectural spirit while breathing new life into a historic space.
