This project represents the ongoing transformation of a historical rice storehouse in Taichung, Taiwan, into a vibrant agricultural tourism destination. Driven by the vision of a former LED manufacturer turned farmer, the project seamlessly blends modern agricultural practices with the rich heritage of the building and the local community. Currently in its first phase, the project demonstrates a profound respect for historical preservation while embracing innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
The core design principle is "Harmonious Symbiosis" – a delicate balance between preserving the historical integrity of the Japanese-era rice storehouse and integrating modern functionality. This manifests in the meticulous restoration of original architectural elements, alongside the introduction of contemporary farming techniques and visitor-friendly spaces. The design narrates the evolution of agriculture in Taiwan, from its historical roots to its innovative future. The old rice storehouse has been reimagined to accommodate a restaurant, three salad areas, display shelves showcasing Taiwanese products, and educational spaces that highlight the farm's sustainable practices.
