I've redesigned the rain water hopper head as throughout my surveying career I keep seeing damage caused to properties when these hopper become blocked. Due to the drive for cheaper manufacturing processes the hopper has become nothing more than a bucket with a hole (outlet) in the bottom. I wanted to ensure that this hopper ive created brings back many of the features lost from hundreds of years ago such as the over flow which (when blocked) disperses the water away from the structure and provides an early 'heads up' that there is an issue that needs to be addressed quickly without detrimental damage occurring. We unfortunately never look up and its not until the damage externally becomes blatantly apparent or when dampness occurs on the internal walls - by which time the aesthetics have been damaged and can cost a lot of money to rectify.
I also have a passion for our heritage properties and ensuring that these valuable/ornate materials don't end up in landfill due to water damage.
I've included fins which help ensure that any foreign object larger that the outlet remains suspended whilst still ensuring water can drain beneath. A grill to keep leaves and moss out which is angled
