A flower shop, whose lease had expired and located adjacent to the Lions Pub, a long standing traditional British pub in downtown Vancouver had become available; is now home to a new speak easy lounge.The spatial constraints of the small footprint challenged the design and client team to hone in on how this bar would function, specifically: specialty crafted cocktails.
A door resembling a British telephone booth door in the pub provides access to the intimate 600 square foot lounge. Wall hung telephones greet guests as they enter and inspired the lounge’s name: Call Me Back. Reflections in the mylar wallcovering, gilded mirrors and back bar mirrors provide sparkle and create the illusion of a larger space. Velvet drapery and feather pendant lights add to the allure of the 22 seat lounge. Glassware, extra bottles and accessories are housed in a suspended overbar shelving feature.
Cocktails are expertly crafted from the small but mighty bar, provides an option for those seeking something different than pints. It also is a perfect place to host small gatherings.
