As the key insertion in the urban regeneration of Hongkou Lot 18 in Shanghai, Life Hub @ Bund Central thoughtfully connects retail and cultural programmes across the adjacent conservation zone and the newly built complex. Comprising of a retail mall and 180m-tall office tower, the design extends century-old urban fabric from the heritage zone to subvert the traditional black-box mall through a network of activated plazas, alleyways and elevated park walks.
Along the city’s main thoroughfare on Haining Road, the office tower anchors the corner, rising as stacked blocks that open towards Shanghai’s skyline. The adjoining seven-storey podium mall presents itself as a City Gallery with retail boxes and open terraces, accented by the City Window that faces The Bund.
Wrapping around the mall’s northern façade is the animated Garden Walk, a continuous route that weaves organically up the mall, past shopfronts, living green walls and outdoor terraces, strategically connecting every level.
Life Hub @ Bund Central offers a new chapter with experiential and commercial possibilities, inviting locals and visitors to step into the city’s heritage and immerse in a century of urban transitions.
