ESCA translates the ethos of “Worldly Flavors, Mediterranean Heart” into space, bringing the understated yet sophisticated spirit of the Mediterranean to ?zmir ?stinyePark. The aim was to reflect the warmth, sincerity, and layered lifestyle of Mediterranean culture within the interior. Although the amorphous and unconventional layout of the leased space posed challenges, balanced proportions and a coherent scheme established harmony between technical volumes, the main dining hall, and service areas.
At the heart of the restaurant lies a sculptural bar, both the center of social interaction and the focal point of the design. With its 360° usability, marble surface, and bronze details, the bar leaves a strong impression on spatial memory. Circulation flows fluidly around this element, linking the dining hall, bar, private dining room, and open terrace.
Once an outdoor terrace, the main dining hall was transformed into an interior-like space through a considered palette and lighting strategy. Wood panels, travertine flooring, earthy-toned furniture, and textiles create distinct atmospheres by day and night, while tropical greenery carries ?zmir’s coastal lightness indoors. The private dining room offers a more theatrical experience, while the open terrace embodies Mediterranean sociability and freedom — a table meant for sharing.
Sunlight animates the space by day, while concealed lighting warms it at night. Ultimately, ESCA tells a refined Mediterranean story by blurring boundaries between inside and out, placing social interaction at its core.
