Ole Gustavsen
Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) / Rector
Ole Gustavsen studied architecture at AHO and design at Westerdals Oslo School of Arts, Communication and Technology in Oslo, Norway and is educated as an architect, designer and carpenter.
Gustavsen was a partner and worked as an architect and designer in the global design company Snøhetta for 20 years and was involved in big project across the world like the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, National September 11 Memorial Museum in NYC, the SFMOMA Expansion in San Francisco and others. Snøhetta has received numerous awards for these buildings and others like the Aga Kahn Award for Architecture (2004), Mies van der Rohe Award (2009), European Prize for Urban Public Space (2010) and the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture (2020).
He currently holds different position in the field of research and architecture, a.o. as the Chair Board of Directors at the Arctic University Museum and Academy of Arts in Tromsø, member of Board of Directors at the Oslo Architecture Triennale and representative of Norway in a sub-group of coordinators for the recognition of professional qualifications for Architectural Education in the European Commission.
Gustavsen is a member of the National Committee for Agenda 2030 in the Higher Education Sector to strengthen the role of the university sector as a relevant actor in the global debate on sustainability. He is also appointed as the lead of the Scientific Advisory Board at Aalto University (2021 – 2023) in Helsinki, Finland (SAAB).
