Alvaro is a Chilean architect and interior designer, currently based in Chicago. He is the Regional Vice President and Lifestyle Studio Head for Hyatt Design Services, where he oversees the design development of Hyatt Lifestyle and Independent brands portfolio across full-service brands in the Americas region. Currently leading Hyatt Lifestyle Studio, his work is instrumental in the current development of brands such as Alila, Andaz, Thompson, Hyatt Centric, Unbound Collection and JDV by Hyatt.

Hyatt Lifestyle Studio performs as a unique creative team, developing innovative projects and one-of-a-kind experiences working in partnership with Hyatt’s global branding, lifestyle operations and development teams, supporting the evaluation, programming, conceptualization, design and implementation of ongoing and potential lifestyle and Independent projects across the Region.

With an extensive background in leading design and interior architectural teams in several countries and continuously searching for new ways of redefining hospitality experiences, Alvaro has been leading Hyatt Design Lifestyle Studio since its creation. Prior to joining Hyatt in 2016, he was design director at SEE, one of the most renowned Interior Design firms in South America, directing and overseeing Hotel and Restaurant design across the Latin America region. Previously, he was a project designer at TonyChi and Associates in NYC, where he worked on several high-end hospitality projects all over the world and learned about hospitality design and hotel operations from one of the most well-known hospitality designers.
