Colleen Cocotos

Colleen Cocotos is a Senior Lecturer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She has over 21 years’ experience in Higher Education, including teaching, assessment, curriculum development, internationalisation, academic management, recognition of prior learning (RPL) and work-integrated learning (WIL) coordination, staff development, quality assurance, and learning design. She has served as the interior design programme coordinator for ten years and has fulfilled the role of acting head of department on various occasions.
Prior to joining CPUT, she practiced architecture, interior design, and lighting design. Her design focus included yacht interiors, retail, corporate, hospitality and residential design. She has worked and studied in Cape Town, Sydney and Dubai, and continues to do design consultation work, time permitting.
Colleen Cocotos current research focus is on ageing in place, inclusivity in design and the lack of ergonomic conditions, architectonic barriers and other obstacles to mobility which affect the quality of life, health and safety of aged people, people with reduced mobility, children, unemployed, retired, and other people with limitations and dependencies.
